12-Week Metabolic Health Coaching Kickstart

In February of 2024, I found myself in unfamiliar territory. I had always considered myself "healthy," but from 2021 to 2024, I watched the number on the scale go up, I gained weight around my mid-section, stopped prioritizing exercise due to a shoulder and rib cage injury, and just generally felt less than great. I was on the high-side of being overweight (nearing the obesity range) and that was a place I had never been my entire life. I chalked it up to menopause and aging. Then I discovered at my annual wellness visit that I had high blood pressure, my triglycerides were trending in the wrong direction. Medication was recommended, but I asked my doctor to give me 3 months to get myself back on track with lifestyle change. 

The numbers tell a story and when I removed the emotion from what was going on, I started focusing on them. 

What do the numbers tell us? They tell us whether our bodies are processing, storing, and using energy effectively or not. Our blood pressure, waist circumference, HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and blood sugar paint a picture of how we've been treating ourselves and they can forecast what's to come. Something that was really eye-opening is that only about 10%-12% of U.S. adults are considered metabolically healthy and this can send us into a spiral of symptoms that require treatment that cause symptoms that need other treatments...and so on. 

Our lifestyles are largely to blame, but it's not totally our fault. Our society has set us up to fail with convenience, manufactured food, and quick-fixes. It's created an environment where we treat (not fix) symptoms and deal with the repercussions later. Restaurants serve us things loaded with unnecessary fats, oils, and salt.

We're on the go and preparing quality meals at home can be challenging.

Packaged convenience food is loaded with chemicals, colorings, and additives, and "hidden" sugar and sodium.

Our doc might tell us to "eat better" but doesn't teach us what to do or how to do it.

Friends and family tempt us with fun times out and gatherings centered around fun foods and alcohol.

Your 12-week coaching program will be run in your own private Facebook "group." Each week there will be a coaching module that will come with the worksheets and resources you need to organize your life and set yourself up for success. You'll have direct access to me throughout the program with weekly opportunities for 1:1 phone calls when needed.

The first SIX WEEKS will focus on habits around setting yourself up for success and on FOOD. Why food? Because it has the biggest and fastest impact on how we look and feel. We will CUSTOMIZE a program that works for you, starting on how to make easy food swaps and how to prioritize healthy whole meals. This will give you the momentum you need to keep going. I'll show you how to make it easy.

After completing the first six weeks, you'll have the foundation of how to create meals and organize your life and space designed around your goals---and best of all, you'll start seeing results (assuming you're doing the work)!

The next six weeks will focus on all the other areas of life that impact our overall health - you know, exercise, sleep/relaxation, fun, relationships, and purpose/career. Food will still be a front-and-center, but we've got to dive into all the other things that can and do impact our wellbeing and metabolic health. 

You'll get a food module to keep you on track on that front AND a module on improving your health in each of the other key areas of wellness.

Each week you'll stack what you're learning on top of what you're already practicing, all the while building awareness, new habits, and behaviors.

If you do have access to your recent lab work from your PCP, track it down if you can. It's not necessary, but it's helpful to know where you're starting from.
